Droplet is designed for flexibility — including setups in utility rooms, basements, garages, and in some cases, outdoors or on hot water lines. Here’s what you need to know:

🌤 Outdoor Installations

  • The current version of Droplet can be installed outdoors as long as the surrounding temperature doesn’t exceed 149°F (65°C)

  • However, it is not fully weatherproof — we recommend placing it in a sheltered or temperature-regulated location when used outside (e.g., covered box, utility shed, or insulated cabinet)

Good news: Droplet is now IP64-rated, designed to withstand exposure to rain, dust, and wide temperature swings.

♨️ Hot Water Line Installations

  • Yes, Droplet can be installed on a hot water line, as long as the pipe’s surface temperature stays below 149°F (65°C)

  • Great for monitoring specific fixtures or appliances that use hot water

Keep in mind:

  • If installed on a hot water line, Droplet will only track hot water usage, not the total usage across your home

  • For whole-home monitoring, always install it on the main cold water supply line before any branches
