Like most smart devices, Droplet will temporarily go offline during a power outage or if it's unplugged. But don’t worry — your device is built to handle interruptions and recover automatically.
🔄 What to Expect During a Power Outage
Droplet will pause data collection and go offline while power is lost
Once power and Wi-Fi are restored, Droplet will automatically reconnect — no reinstallation or setup is required
You do not need to re-pair the device or re-enter Wi-Fi credentials
💾 What About My Data?
Droplet has built-in buffering to store data during outages:
It can buffer around 12 hours of normal usage in a typical household
When power is restored, that buffered data will be uploaded to your app so you won’t see gaps in your data
If the outage lasts longer than ~12 hours, older data may begin to overwrite — but we’re actively working to expand this buffer in future updates
💾 How to Reconnect
Your Droplet should reconnect to your network automatically, but in case not, in your Droplet app, you'll see a Status Indicator button in the upper right-hand corner of your Usage dashboard that will tell you if your device is offline. To reconnect, click that button and you'll be prompted to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network. Make sure your mobile device is close to your Droplet and Bluetooth is enabled.
🔌 Best Practices
To keep Droplet running smoothly:
Keep it plugged into a stable power source at all times
If your outlet is far from your main pipe, using an extension cord is completely fine
